Product Description

An original 1924 political peace pamphlet written by Luigi Carnovale, published in Chicago in the aftermath of the First World War.

Titled “How America Can Easily and Quickly Prevent Wars Forever – An Original Independent Peace Plan”, the booklet proposes a radical idea for achieving permanent peace: the abolition of neutrality between nations. Carnovale argues that neutral nations allow aggressor states to wage war without universal opposition, and that eliminating neutrality would force all nations to collectively resist aggression.

The work reflects the intellectual and political debates of the interwar period, when many writers, activists, and political thinkers searched for ways to prevent another global conflict after the devastation of 1914–1918.

Inside the booklet, Carnovale discusses topics such as:

  • The role of the United States in global peace

  • The Monroe Doctrine and international politics

  • The concept of abolishing neutrality

  • Moral responsibility of nations in wartime

  • A proposed framework for preventing future wars

The booklet concludes with the statement that “Only the Abolition of Neutrality can quickly and forever prevent wars.”

This publication represents an interesting piece of interwar peace activism and political thought, illustrating how intellectuals attempted to rethink international relations after the First World War.

The pamphlet has been previously owned by the Dutch army, and was probably used to study. It has a stamp indicating that it has been written of from the Royal Army library since 2015.
